The sun came up on Mother O-So and her two boys. Wakening them from their much-needed rest. Mother O-So and her two sons looked around the porch and found no signs of either Father or brother Ah. Again Father O-So had not come home but this time neither had the oldest son. Mother O-So was very worried.
ÒWhere could they both be?Ó
she said to herself. ÒSo O-So, I want you to go into town and look for your
father and older brother. Ask in the Town Square. Someone must have seen them
there. Maybe something happened that has forced your father and brother to
remain in town,Ó said Mother O-So in a level, direct tone. ÒI will find them
both, donÕt worry mother,Ó said So O-So in a strong voice. So He hugged his
mother and younger brother, took the food mother prepared and walked down the
road with a fast pace.
Without both Ah and So O-So,
Mother O-So had to help Perfect O-So in the radish fields. So much work to do,
hoeing and pulling weeds in addition to Perfects bug stomping. Perfect O-So took on his older brothers
duty of hoeing so that mother would not be overwhelmed with too much work.
Letting his mother pull weeds at her slower pace. The two worked late into the
afternoon. Stopping at the sunset. Without any lunch or rest.
After eating a rather big
dinner, to make up for not eating lunch of course, both Mother O-So and her
youngest son sat on the porch to wait for Father, Ah and So O-SosÕ return. The
night seemed to go on forever. As if time had stopped. Mother O-So and her
youngest son looked down the road and waited. Without moving and occasionally
blinking their eyes. Just breathing slowly in silence as minute after minute
passed.
Morning came again and there
was no sign of Father, Ah And So O-So. Mother O-So had looked at her youngest
son with tears in her eyes. Perfect hugged his mother and promised that he
would find his father and two brothers. Mother O-So was scared that Perfect
would not return as well. That her family was lost somewhere and that Perfect
would also have that befall him. Perfect assured his mother that he would be
careful so that nothing will happen to him.
Mother told Perfect to search
until he found his father and two brothers. She quickly prepared food for
Perfect and his father and brothers. They have been gone a while and surly be
hungry. Perfect took in a deep breath, hugged his mother and started walking
down the road to town. Thinking of where they could be. ÒWhat could have
happened to them?Ó he said talking to himself.
